Chirac Accused of Corruption

The trial of former french president Jacques Chirac has started in Paris on Monday.
Chirac, 78, is charged for corruption whe he was mayor of Paris between 1977 and 1995
H e is accused to have abused his power by creating ghost jobs for about 20 individuals who received salary without working because they were his political supporters. Jacques Chirac was not at the tribunal but his lawyer said he would appear soon. He is the second president to be brought to justice for crimes committed in office after Marshal Petain who was charged for treason after the second world war.
Jacque Chirac was President of France between 1995 and 2005
